Equipment list

Here’s what we recommend you bring on our hiking activities. Always check the weather forecast and adjust your layers and equipment accordingly. We are happy to provide advice.

 
Equipment
Can be done with a minimum of equipment. Drink water before we start.

What to wear:

  • (trail) running shoes or light hiking boots
  • light breathable windbreaker/rain jacket (can be tied around your waist
  • (sun)hat / sunglasses
Optional:
  • water bottle (with waist holder)
  • snacks
  • small pack
  • Nordic walking poles
  • camera
Requires some more equipment for a longer outing.

What to wear and bring:

  • (trail) running shoes or light hiking boots
  • light breathable windbreaker/rain jacket (can be tied around your waist
  • (sun)hat / sunglasses
  • backpack (big enough for carrying layers)
  • water (1 litre)
  • lunch/snacks
  • maps (hiking and road)
  • first aid kit, matches, penknife whistle, emergency blanket, insect repellent and bite medication, tissues
  • emergency numbers
  • id/passport and Swiss/French cash

Optional:

  • sturdy hiking boots (& extra socks to change into)
  • windproof, breathable jacket
  • waterproof, breathable pants
  • several warm layers (plus carry an extra one to put on when we stop)
Add the following to the hiking list above:

  • warm hat
  • gloves (and extra pair of warm mitts)
  • goggles
  • thin down layer
  • snowshoes (personal or rental)
  • gaiters (cover for your boots/pants)
  • ski/hiking poles (preferably with wider basket)
  • small thermos for hot drink
